THE PORTRAIT DESIGN CONSULTATION

We, at Charles Smith Photography, desire for you to have a classic and timeless portrait that will cause you to reflect with joy, with every glance, through every year. In order for us to provide this, it is important that we meet with you for a Portrait Design Consultation. During this consultation session, we will view sample portraits and listen to your vision for your portrait. Then based off the ideas we hear from you, we will then propose our vision for your portrait. In doing so, we will provide our expertise based on our past experiences by providing any guidance to you on mood, clothing choices, and location. This time of preparation is essential to us, at Charles Smith Photography, so that both sides know what to expect and work toward when the day comes. Ultimately, this will help us serve you best.

THE PORTRAIT SESSION

This is the day that you get to be the center of attention and we, as the photographers, get to do what we love and do best. It's here that we get to express our creativity, and along with your help, create portraits that show the uniqueness of you. During our portrait sessions, we want to cultivate a stress-free, laid-back and fun environment where you can be you, without distraction. This will help us serve you best, providing you with a portrait that captures the true essence of who you are.

THE ORDERING APPOINTMENT

After 10 days of being photographed, your photos will be ready to view our client-only website. You will then schedule an appointment with us so that together we can choose from your favorite photos. It is important that all decision makers be present. We will also be available to assist you in selecting suitable images for your home, office, and gifts for friends and family.

A FEW SUGGESTIONS:

General Clothing Tips: We recommend simple and classic styles. Also, keep in mind that when choosing clothing colors, choose only those that flatter the hair and skin. If you are completely at loss of ideas, black is always best. It is classic and keeps the attention on you. never goes out of style and puts the focus right on the face. Choosing patterns could lead one to be distracted when viewing your portrait.

Tips for Infants/ Young children: For infants, we recommend simple as well. Children portraits turn out best when the child wears a simple diaper/bloomer or nothing at all. A simple day gown works well for young ones as well. Unless you want a more formal look, everyday clothes are just fine. Remember not to get too carried away in the outfit. We are just concerned with capturing the individual personality of your young one.

Tips for High School Seniors: We encourage the senior portrait sessions be a little more trendy and distinct. During this session, we want you to show your style. However, we also recommend that you bring a classic outfit also so that we can provide a more timeless option to choose from. Feel free to bring more outfits than you will need. We will be more than happy to help you choose from your selections.

Style: During the Design Consultation we will discuss the style you would like to achieve from your session. Especially with children it is best to stick with one or two clothing changes. They are less distracted this way.
